I took this photo right before Tisha Be'Av, the day we mourn and commemorate the destruction of Jerusalem and the 2 Temples but we also have so much to be grateful for. The fact that we're able to come to what's left of the Temple site and wave the Israeli flag with the star of David in front of it after thousands of years of none or very little access to this is incredibly meaningful.

One of the most meaningful moments of my life took place right under this flag 7 years ago, almost to the day. Standing at the Western Wall below the Temple Mount, my fellow soldiers and I were sworn into the IDF in an infantry combat unit. We'd go on to carry out dozens of anti-terror missions in the West Bank, likely saving innocent lives while putting ours on the line and it all started from this very spot.

I also vividly remember the first time I laid eyes on the Wall and just being completely astounded even as an 8-year-old.

Pretty much anyone who's visited here has a story to tell about their experience. 

The Kotel adorns many walls around the world and it's easy to understand why. I knew I had to make the trip here with my camera to create my own artwork that will surely be an amazing addition to many homes.
